Veterans Canada:
Online Moment of Silence

Since November 11, 1918, Canadians have honoured their fallen soldiers with a moment of silence. But today, the tradition carries less relevance than it once did.

CREATIVE

Simply, young Canadians connect to social causes differently than previous generations. So to modernize the tradition for today’s digital audiences, we launched the Online Moment of Silence. The campaign started with a microsite where users were able to schedule a blank post to their social channels, all of which would be published on November 11, at 11am. Together, all these posts would create a whiteout effect in social feeds, contributing to a digital moment of silence alongside the one happening at Remembrance Day ceremonies across the country.

This website was created using Semplice Studio Edition™ for WordPress and (not yet) tweaked by a proper developer, just me playing with some CSS and custom things. The typefaces used here are Butler, created by French designer Fabian De Smet, as well as Open Sans created by American typeface designer Steve Matteson. Other than #00000 and #FFFFFF, the accent colour you see in links, things you can click, and on the favicon is #FF3F43.
